Development professionals may find themselves faced with an ethical dilemma when a donor exhibits warning signs of cognitive impairment.
While dementia is not a normal part aging, the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia increases with age. Older adults may experience subtle changes in their cognition while still able to participate in legal and financial decision-making.
At what point is it unethical to accept a gift from a donor who has signs of cognitive impairment?
